Machines & Techniques We Teach
At GM Cut Studio, we teach you how to use real gem cutting machines and techniques used by professionals in the industry. You’ll get hands-on experience with both precision systems and traditional tools — just like those used in gem factories across Asia.

Cabochon Machine
Used for cutting and polishing smooth, domed stones without facets.
Perfect for: Opals, star stones, turquoise, or any stone where color and shape matter more than sparkle.

Jambpeg
An ancient faceting method using a horizontal lap and a wooden stick (dop).
Perfect for: Learning gem cutting history, developing manual skill, and understanding angle control by eye.

Handpiece Faceting Machine (with Index Gear)
A machine using a handpiece connected to an index gear.
Perfect for: Controlled manual cutting with faster adjustments and a more natural feel than mast machines.

Precision Faceting Machine (Facetron)
A modern mast machine with digital angle and height control.
Perfect for: High-precision cutting, ideal symmetry, and repeatability.

Freehand Cutting Style
This is the traditional Thai cutting method, used widely in real gem factories. The stone is held and rotated by hand, with no angle dial or index gear — relying solely on the cutter’s eyes, hands, and experience.
Perfect for: Fast production, adapting to inclusions, and maximizing yield from rough stones.
